At the back end of last month, 1.297 million viewers watched Denmark select their entry for this year’s Eurovision. That might seem like a lot on paper, but it’s now their lowest viewing figures since their national selection in 2008.

The amount of viewers that tuned in to watch the show last month has decreased rather significantly. That is, in comparison to last year, where 1.383 viewers watched Rasmussen win. This means that its ratings have fallen for the fifth year in a row. Despite this, it was still the most viewed program on Danish television. Yet only had 10,000 more viewers than comedy-drama series Badehotellet.
DMGP 2019
The Dansk Melodi Grand Prix was held on 23 February in Herning. This year marked the 49th edition of the national selection. Ten acts were shortlisted for the chance to represent Denmark at Eurovision 2019.

- Rasmus Faartoft – Hold My Breath (Eliminated)
- Marie Isabell – Dancing with You in My Heart (Eliminated)
- Sigmund – Say My Name (3rd)
- Humørekspressen – Dronning af baren (Eliminated)
- Julie & Nina – League of Light (2nd)
- Teit Samsø – Step It Up (Eliminated)
- Leonora – Love Is Forever (1st)
- Leeloo – That Vibe (Eliminated)
The first round of voting eliminated 7 of the 10 acts. The top 3 went on to the second round where the winner was determined by 50% of the jury vote and 50% of the public vote.
Leonora won this year’s DMGP with 42% of the vote. She will represent Denmark in Israel this year with her song “Love Is Forever”. Denmark will perform in the first half of the second semi final on Thursday May 16.
