Another day, another highly-anticipated internal selection is released! Following the release of Tamta’s “Replay” yesterday, Cyprus’ Eurovision BFF Greece has dropped their effort for Tel Aviv! In a case of classic Mediterranean timing, these releases come less than a week ahead of the Heads of Delegation meeting on March 11th.
This release comes less than a month after the Greek broadcaster ERT confirmed that Katerine would be their Eurovision representative. In the meantime, she has been posting hints and teasers of the visuals via her Instagram story, alongside a 9-second teaser clip. She also released the song’s lyrics a couple of days before the video was dropped.

The song was co-written by Katerine and David Sneddon, and was also co-produced by Katerine, Leon of Athens and David Sneddon. The official video, meanwhile, was directed by Efi Gousi.
ERT had previously revealed that they have every intention of winning the contest this year, and the quality of the song and accompanying visuals certainly proves that! They also noted that Katerine will not be attending the pre-party circuit (Amsterdam, London, Moscow, Madrid, Riga, etc.). Instead, Better Love will be promoted via social media and performed in Greek Embassies across Europe.
About Katerine
Katerine Duska was born and raised in Montreal. She started composing music when she was a teenager and moved with her family to Greece, where she studied law at the University of Athens.
Her debut album “Embodiment” featured singles “One in a Million” and “Won’t Leave”. Her cover of Arctic Monkeys’ “Do I Wanna Know” has over one million views on YouTube. She is signed to Minos EMI, one of the leading record labels in Greece.
In January, the ERT Director of International Relations Maria Koufopoulou told that the broadcaster wanted to go with more European sound in 2019, after failing to qualify with more ethnic entries in 2016 and 2018.
Greece in Eurovision Song Contest
Previously, Greece had been one of the most successful and consistent countries at the contest. Between 2001 and 2013, Greece achieved ten top-ten results. These include third-place finishes for Antique (2001), Sakis Rouvas (2004) and Kalomira (2008). Of course, Greece’s Helena Paparizou won the contest in 2005 with “My Number One”.
However, Greece’s success at the contest has been inconsistent in the past couple of years. Over the past five years, the country has failed to qualify to the final twice (2016 and 2019). Their non-qualification in 2016 marked the first time the country had failed to reach the final in the history of its participation since the introduction of the semi-finals format.
Katerine Duska is hoping to bring the country back to the final from the first semi-final of the contest in Tel Aviv, on May 14th.
