Janet Devlin confirms she is not representing Ireland in 2019

Ireland's representative will be announced tomorrow

After rumours about her being Ireland’s choice for Eurovision 2019, Janet Devlin has now confirmed she is not representing Ireland in Tel Aviv.

“Maybe someday”

On a YouTube video she addresses the rumours and says they are not true. Various medias including the Irish Daily Mail reported about Janet being announced as Irish representative tomorrow, but Janet says this is not true.

She says she had to make this video after being contacted by lots of people and media. She says that you shouldn’t always trust all articles, even when they are coming from “reliable news sources”.

Janet says that she will be watching the show and enjoys it and says that maybe someday she might represent the country.

Who is Janet Devlin?

24-year-old Janet Devlin is from Gortin in Northern Ireland. In 2011 she auditioned for the eight season of The X Factor. Her audition with Elton John’s “Your Song” has been watched over 38 million times so far.

She eventually finished fifth in the contest after receiving the most public votes for the first four weeks of voting. The contest was later won by the girl group Little Mix.

Her debut album was launched on Pledge Music and the album Hide & Seek was released to pledgers on July 1st, 2013. The album was later released with the new title Running with Scissors on June 9th, 2014. Her cover of The Cure’s “Friday I’m In Love” has reached almost 12 millions streams on Spotify.

Her latest single “I Lied to You” was released in last December. She has also been opening up about her life on her YouTube channel. A week ago she uploaded a video telling about her mental breakdown which made her to take a long break from work and social media.
