Today, Switzerland revealed their representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2019. And it’s Luca Hänni who will fly the Swiss flag in Tel Aviv with the song “She Got Me”.

“She Got Me” is written by Laurell Barker, Mac Frazer, Luca Hänni, Jon Hällgren and Lukas Hällgren.

Who is Luca Hänni?

24-year-old Luca Hänni was born in Bern. He rose to fame in 2012 after winning the ninth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar. His debut single “Don’t Think About Me” topped the charts in Austria, Switzerland and Germany and his debut album was certified gold in Switzerland and Austria.

Luca has released four albums so far. His more recent singles include “Powder” and “Signs”. The music video for “Powder” has over 1.2 million views on YouTube.

In 2017 Luca Hänni was the spokesperson for Switzerland in the final of Eurovision Song Contest.

Switzerland in Eurovision 2019

Switzerland started their search already last year. Switzerland’s Italian language broadcaster RSI opened a poll of thirteen songs and three of the songs were put through. The songs that got the most votes were “Mama (I Walk Alone)” by Julie Meletta, “Playground” by Scilla Hess and “Carry the Light” by Sebalter, who represented the country in 2014.

In November, Switzerland’s German language broadcaster, SRF, revealed that five songs had made it through to the final round of their own selection. These songs were tested with music producers and various artists.

The final decision on the Swiss entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 was made by a public jury and international expert jury. The international jury included Ovi, who represented Romania in Eurovision 2010 and 2014, Ruth Lorenzo, who represented Spain in 2014 and Tinkara Kovač, who represented Slovenia in 2014.
