The song is written by Borislav Milanov and Chingiz himself. Previously Borislav has written several songs to Eurovision, including Bulgaria’s entries in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and Austria’s song in 2018.

Who is Chingiz?

Chingiz Mustafayev is a singer, guitarist and songwriter. He has been performing for over ten years after winning a popular talent show Yeni Ulduz in 2007.

In 2013 he took part in the New Wave contest and finished 11th out of 16 contestants. Next to his solo career, Chingiz is also the lead singer and guitarist of the group Palmas. Recently the group released a cover of Maroon 5’s hit “Girls Like You”.

Chingiz got his biggest hits just recently. His self-directed music video for the song “Tenha gezen” was uploaded to YouTube in January and has reached over 3 millions views.

Azerbaijan in Eurovision 2019

Azerbaijan chose their artist and song to Tel Aviv internally. The four shortlisted acts were announced in February and it was revealed that over 350 songs were submitted for the broadcaster İctimai.

In Tel Aviv, Azerbaijan will compete in the second semifinal of the contest. Chingiz will perform on the second half of the show.

I started watching Eurovision back in 2006, when I was only 10 and couldn't stay up to see Lordi winning. I attended my first contest in 2013 in Malmö. I'm studying journalism and I love music — you will probably never see me without my headphones on.
