London Eurovision Party

Lithuania’s Jurij Veklenko confirmed for the London Eurovision Party!

Run wild!

Having emerged triumphant from Lithuania’s marathon national selection – Eurovizijos atranka – back in February, Jurij Veklenko will be performing “Run with the Lions” at the London Eurovision Party in Leicester Square on Sunday 14th April at Café de Paris! He follows in the footsteps of Ieva Zasimauskaitė, who represented Lithuania at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon!

Jurij Veklenko will represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song “Run with the Lions” which he will present on the Café de Paris stage at the London Eurovision Party on Sunday 14th April!

Following in Ieva’s footsteps

Lithuania’s Eurovizijos atranka is widely known as one of the largest and most difficult national selections in Europe. Over 4 heats, two semi-finals and a grand final, it’s a challenge for any performer. Facing stiff competition from fan favourites like Monika Marija, Jurij emerged victorious with his empowering anthem “Run With the Lions”. He received a perfect score from both juries and televoters across the three rounds of the competition.

More recently, he has revealed that the song will be revamped ahead of his performance in Tel Aviv. It is likely that he will therefore be performing the new version at LEP!

Last year, Ieva impressed attendees at the London Eurovision Party with her intimate and emotional performance of “When We’re Old”. The song went on to qualify from the incredibly-competitive first semi-final in Lisbon, placing on the left-hand side of the scoreboard on the night of the grand final. Perhaps Jurij will do the same this year?

Ever since I saw Helena Paparizou's triumph at Eurovision in 2005 (at the tender age of 6), I have been crazy about Eurovision. From the regional native language bops and shrieky female-led balladry to the sophisticated avant garde pop songs and chart-friendly EDM, I love everything about this cultural phenomenon. I'm currently working as a Delivery Manager in a software development team.
