Thomas Stengaard and Andreas Stone Johansson behind Nadir Rustamli’s entry at Eurovision 2022?

Swedish-Danish duo behind the song?

According to OGAE Azerbaijan, Danish songwriter Thomas Stengaard and Swedish songwriter Andreas Stone Johansson have written Nadir Rustamli’s entry for Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

OGAE Azerbaijan reports on Instagram, that the song by Thomas Stengaard and Andreas Stone Johansson was chosen to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. As reported by 12xal last week, the song was just recently selected from a shortlist of six songs. Around 300 demos were sent for the broadcaster.

Thomas Stengaard has previously written entries such as “El Diablo” for Cyprus in 2021, “Adrenalina” for San Marino in 2021, “You Let Me Walk Alone” for Germany in 2018 and the Eurovision winner “Only Teardrops” for Denmark in 2013. Next to multiple Melodifestivalen entries, Andreas Stone Johansson has written the Melodifestivalen 2019 winner “Too Late for Love” and Melodi Grand Prix 2022 finalist “Death of Us”.

On Sunday, Nadir posted a picture to Instagram of him recording his entry. He says the song was “the one he had been really hoping for”. The song is set to be released this week. The 22-year-old The Voice of Azerbaijan winner Nadir Rustamli was internally selected to represent Azerbaijan in Turin. At The Voice of Azerbaijan, where he was coached by Eurovision 2011 winner Eldar Gasimov. During the show, Nadir covered multiple Eurovision entries, including the Azerbaijani version of their 2008 entry “Day After Day” and their winning entry “Running Scared” together with his coach Eldar.

At the Eurovision Song Contest 20222, Azerbaijan will compete in the second semi-final. Nadir Rüstəmli will perform on the first half of the show on May 12th.
