Helena Paparizou has released the music video for her new single entitled “Askopa Xenihtia”. The title of the song can be translated to “Pointless nights” and this is a work released by the record label Minos EMI/Universal. The video clip was directed by Alex Konstantinidis and starts with the following quote – “Nothing is more beautiful than a woman who is happy to be herself“. After four days it has over 375 000 views.
The music and lyrics of this power ballad were composed by the team ARCADE and by Dimitris Xypolias. This team features Anastasios Rammos, Pavlos Manolis, Diveno and Gabriel Russel. Besides Helena Paparizou, the music video showcases three other famous greek women: the Olympic champion Katerina Stefanidi and the actresses Katerina Lehou and Natalia Dimou.
Helena Paparizou and Eurovision
Helena Paparizou appeared on the Eurovision stage twice. Her first time goes back to 2001 when she represented Greece as part of the duo Antique. “Die for you” was a favourite for the victory. Despite not getting a victory, the duo achieved for Greece a third place, the best result for the country until that year.
Four years later Helena was internally selected by ERT to represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. In a national final with three songs, “My number one” was the chosen entry to represent Greece. At Eurovision Helena and her song received 230 points, giving to Greece their first victory in the contest.
In 2014 she competed in the Swedish Melodifestivalen, placing 4th with her song “Survivor. After then there have been several rumours about her return to Eurovision, both for Greece and Cyprus. We are still waiting.
