At the age of 67 and almost half a century since winning Eurovision, it seems that Irish star Dana will be releasing new music very soon!
Catholic to Pop
The “All Kinds of Everything” singer last released a pop album back in 1982. After that, she focused more on releasing religious records as well as spending five years in politics as a member of the European Parliament.
Speaking to the Irish Mirror, Dana seemed amazed at the fact that she is still singing at nearly 70. She’s encouraged by many widely famous singers who are still performing decade after decade.
“But there are plenty of others older than me still doing it. Like Cher, Dolly Parton, Mick Jagger…an endless list of fine performers. That really encourages me because I do get self-conscious about it”Dana speaking to the Irish Mirror
New album on the way
Dana has finished recording a brand new pop album in Rome, Italy. Her nieces and nephews, who are part of a group called The Rua, encouraged her to make a comeback with this album. This will be released on The Rua’s independent label, but no date has been confirmed yet.
The Irish singer recalls her time last year where she was terrified of going into the recording studio. She stated that from the late 90s up to now, she wasn’t singing very often. Dana feared that if she tried out again, it would be a waste of everyone’s time and money.
“They just asked me to record three tracks and “see how it goes”, which I did in June 2018 despite being petrified and uncertain going into the studio. Those turned out really well and got a great response from their radio pluggers, so they asked if I’d complete an album”Dana speaking to the Irish Mirror
