New Music Friday this week with Jessica Mauboy, Douwe Bob, Sunstroke Project & more!

It’s Friday! Which means it’s our favourite time of the week, New Music Friday and finding all the best new releases from the world of Eurovision for your weekend playlists. Over the following pages is everything you need to know.

Jessica Mauboy – ‘Sunday’

Darwin’s delight from Eurovision 2018 follows up ‘We Got Love‘ with her first release since her Lisbon travels. Transporting us from Friday to ‘Sunday’, Jessica’s rich tone wraps around the shoulder popping, bluesy piano melody. The edgy lyrics are a clap-back to those trying to maintain a relationship with a partner not putting in their fair share of the work and how Jessica just wants to be “Chillin’ on a Sunday afternoon.” ‘Sunday’ will feature on the currently untitled 4th studio album to be released later this year. For those in Melbourne on 14th April, Jessica will be performing her old hits and new single ‘Sunday’ at The Epsy. Along with Billy Davis and The Good Lords. Tickets can be purchased here.

Lisa Bird

My first Eurovision memory was watching 1994 as a hatchling. I've been tapping my talons to the bops and bangers from Europe and beyond ever since! I finally spread my wings to attending the contest in Lisbon 2018 and am now a regular at many events and national finals - especially my regular nest at Eesti Laul.
