Tel Aviv 2019

Serbia: Nevena Božović Releases Official Video for “Kruna”

The visual is reminiscent of her Beovizija staging

Serbia’s Nevena Božović has revealed the official music video for her Eurovision Song Contest 2019 entry, “Kruna”. This comes a week after the announcement of who will be accompanying her on stage in Tel Aviv. She had previously released an acoustic live version and revamped studio version of the song.

Previously, the main video for the entry on the official Eurovision YouTube channel was of her winning performance from the Beovizija final. Keeping it consistent, Nevena is rocking the same dress she wore for said performance in the official video. The video features an emotive delivery of the song from Nevena, complete with dynamic camera cuts. Could this be a hint of what we can expect from her staging in Tel Aviv?

Prior to the video’s release, she had also released a revamped studio version of her entry, which features more ethnic Serbian elements. Following that, she released an intimate acoustic version of Kruna, showcasing her beautiful vocals.

You can see the official video for Kruna below:

Nevena Božović at the Eurovision Song Contest

This is not the first time that Nevena will be competing in the Eurovision world, in fact, she’s basically a veteran at this point. Nevena competed in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest back in 2007 with ‘Piši Mi‘, where she placed third overall.

Then, in 2013, Nevena competed in the Eurovision Song Contest, as part of the group Moje 3 with ‘Ljubav Je Svuda‘. The group unfortunately did not make it past the first Semi-Final, placing 11th on the night.

Nevena will once again return in the Eurovision Song Contest, following her victory in this year’s edition of Beovizija, Serbia’s national selection. She will be performing in 9th in the first semi-final on 14th May for a place in the Grand Final on Saturday 18th May.

Ever since I saw Helena Paparizou's triumph at Eurovision in 2005 (at the tender age of 6), I have been crazy about Eurovision. From the regional native language bops and shrieky female-led balladry to the sophisticated avant garde pop songs and chart-friendly EDM, I love everything about this cultural phenomenon. I'm currently working as a Delivery Manager in a software development team.
