Malta’s Junior Eurovision starlet Giorgia Borg wins golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent!

For the third consecutive year of Britain’s Got Talent, we have a Maltese Junior Eurovision contestant taking the show by storm! This time, it’s Giorgia Borg who finished third in the Maltese Junior Eurovision national final behind Ela Mangion last year.

Third time lucky for Malta?

Fresh from taking part in the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest in September 2018, Giorgia set her sights on Britain’s Got Talent. Former Maltese Junior Eurovision winner Destiny Chukunyere and 2017 Maltese national finalist, Amy Marie Borg, both reached the live semi-finals in previous years of the competition.

Whilst Destiny and Amy both sung covers for their auditions in front of Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams, Giorgia took things one step further and sung her very own original song! The 10-year-old performed “10” in front of the judges, the song she competed with in last year’s Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest! Watch her audition below:

Semi-final place guaranteed

As a reward for received Alesha’s golden buzzer, Giorgia now has a guaranteed spot in the live semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent 2019, expected to take place in late May. Can she go further than Destiny and Amy and reach the grand final? We wish her the best of luck in doing so!

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
