Tel Aviv 2019

Eurovision 2019 rehearsals expected to begin on Saturday 4th May

Just six days to go? It is expected that the rehearsals for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 will begin on Saturday 4th May. Since Kyiv 2017, rehearsals have begun on a Sunday.

A Saturday start

Austrian broadcaster ORF has revealed that PÆNDA will rehearse for the first time on Monday 6 May. To allow for this, the rehearsal schedule will have to begin on Saturday 4 May. Therefore, the expected beginning of the rehearsal schedule for 2019 is as follows:

  • 1st half of semi-final 1: 4 May
  • 2nd half of semi-final 1: 5 May
  • 1st half of semi-final 2: 6 May (confirmed by Austria)
  • 2nd half of semi-final 2: 7 May

Implementation of a rest day?

No official rehearsal schedule has been released by the EBU or KAN thus far. However, this earlier start would allow for a rest day to be implemented into the first week of rehearsals for either Yom HaZikaron (Memorial Day) taking place on 8th May or Yom HaAtzmaut (Independence Day) taking place on 9th May.

Due to a reduction in participating countries, a rest day would be the only likely explanation for an earlier start to rehearsals.

As soon as the full schedule is released, ESCXTRA.com will bring it to you straight away. So stay tuned!

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
