Australia: SBS announce commentators

Australia have revealed two familiar faces (or rather, voices) as their commentators for Eurovision 2019. Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey will return to the commentators booth on behalf of SBS.

Returning for the third time

This marks the third year in a row that the duo will guide Australian viewers through the live shows. In addition to their experience as commentators, Myf and Joel hosted Australia’s first ever national final earlier this year. Beyond their Eurovision gig, Myf and Joel both have plenty of show business experience. She is a radio announcer and television personality, while he’s a stand-up comedian and actor.

Even though Australia has only participated in the contest since 2015, they have a long standing tradition to broadcast the contest. Veterans Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang acted as the commentators for SBS between 2009 and 2016. Starting with the 2017 contest in Kiev, Myf and Joel took over the commentating duty.

Australia in Eurovision Song Contest 2019

Kate Miller-Heidke became the first Australian representative to be selected through a national final. Going up against 9 other acts, she won the final quite convincingly with her song “Zero Gravity”. Australia will compete in the first semi-final, set to take place on May 14th.
