Latvia have revealed the team behind their staging for the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. Rennie Mirro and Filip Adamo will be responsible for the choreography, whilst Latvian designer Līga Banga will design the outfits for Carousel, who won Supernova in February.
Winning experience
Rennie Mirro and Filip Adamo are two Swedish choreographers. Latvia have hired them this year for their third Eurovision adventure. Mirro and Adamo previously worked on “La Forza” for Estonia last year, when Elina Nechayeva brought them back to the top ten. Their biggest claim to fame at the contest is the choreography of the 2011 Eurovision winners. The duo were then responsible for the performance Ell & Nikki brought to Düsseldorf, which gave Azerbaijan its first ever Eurovision victory.
Rennie Mirro is no stranger to the Eurovision Song Contest. His half-sister has previously been an interval act at the contest and once again hosted Melodifestivalen this year: Sarah Dawn Finer. Mirro himself was part of the Swedish jury at the contest back in 2015. Interestingly, his favourite act in both the semi and the final was… Latvia! Aminata represented the Baltic nation that year with “Love Injected”.
Līga Banga for light outfits
Carousel are going local when it comes to their outfit designer. Latvia’s own Līga Banga will be responsible for the clothes the band will be wearing on stage. We haven’t seen the outfits yet, but Banga did give away a couple of hints already:
Sabine’s dress will be light, light and soft – like the singer herself. The general image of the group will be elegant. The guys will wear black and white – a youthful classic.
With these hints in mind, it’s fair to assume that the classic look we saw from the band in Supernova will largely remain for the Eurovision Song Contest, albeit with different lights and camera angles.
Carousel are set to perform as #5 in the second semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv. They’ll be hoping to bring their country back to the final with “That Night”.
