🇸🇪 Dotter releases new single ‘I’m Sorry’

”I painted a picture of you. Your soul was red, and your mind was blue”

Dotter is back again with a new song release! Teased earlier this week, today you can listen to new single ‘I’m Sorry’.

In contrast to the summer hit ‘Backfire’, this time Dotter slows the tempo for ‘I’m Sorry’ with her vocals soaring over a slower atmospheric pop track. There are shades of ‘Bulletproof’ here in the music, which considering the success of the Meldoifestivalen entry is a big positive.

You may of heard this one before

You may recognise the song as a cover of the 1996 original by Swedish singer Dilba. The song was a hit in Sweden, as well as other European countries and Japan. A Meldodifestivalen connection is certainly present here as Dilba competed in the 2011 edition of the Swedish Eurovision national selection with ‘Try Again’. If Swedish metal was more you thing in the 2000s though, you may also know Evergrey’s cover version released in 2003.

Compare the versions though and you’ll hear that Dotter has certainly done great in adding her own style and making the song her own.

LYRICS
I painted a picture of you
Your soul was red, and your mind was blue
Destiny laid a light on my creation
This dream I had made
A slave of my passion
Reality was always too far away
And we were happy
Until it came too close one day
And sudden I faced
The truth of my dream
My love had only been a picture, a scene
I suppose I needed too believe
Didn't want too see
You had never been close to me
I'm sorry, this illusion
Has caused you a lot of pain
And I have no solution
I'll try to never be back again
I'm sorry
Yes I painted a picture of youmy dream was a lie
And the lie became truth
Reality held it's breath too long
It's disgusting what dreams can do to you
And i'm sorry, this illusion
Has caused you a lot of pain
And I have no solution
I''ll try to never be back again
I'm sorry, this illusion
Has caused you a lot of pain
And I have no solution
I'll try to never be back again
I'm sorry

Dotter at Melodifestivalen

Johanna ‘Dotter’ Maria Jansson made her Melodifestivalen performance debut in 2018 with ‘Cry’, unfortunately missing out on a place in the grand final of the contest. In what seems now like another time, earlier in 2020 Dotter returned with the excellent ‘Bulletproof’. Tipped by many to win the contest after reaching the final, the song became runner up with only one point between it and winners The Mamas with the song ‘Move’.
