ESCXTRA.com are live in Israel at the Expo Tel Aviv press centre for day 1 of rehearsals ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019! The countries rehearsing today, in chronological order, are Cyprus, Montenegro, Finland, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Belarus and Serbia.

Rehearsing right now inside the Expo Tel Aviv is Nevena Božović, performing “Kruna” for Serbia. We will continue to update this article as each run through takes place, so make sure to keep refreshing for the most up-to-date review!

The performance begins with Nevena in the centre of the LED floor, a place she maintains for the entire performance. The LED floor is covered in frozen ice, whilst Nevena herself is wearing the same outfit as when she won ‘Beovizija’ – black with metallic decoration. The more prominent backing vocals give “Kruna” an added power.

During the first verse, the camera spins around Nevena which gently transfers into a slow-moving close-up shot of the Serbian. As we enter the first chorus, the ice appears on the LED backdrop too and begins to dramatically crack.

During the second verse, we see the use of subtle 3D graphic overlays in which a swirling effects begins to climb the bottom of her dress. For the final chorus, the LEDs change to a golden swirl, creating a good winning over evil effect for the performance.

Fantastic vocals for Nevena, there’s nothing more she can do to improve.

Stay tuned for our reviews for the rest of today’s rehearsals here at the Expo Tel Aviv. My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
