🇩🇰 Anja Nissen releases new single “Can’t Do This”

Denmark’s 2017 Eurovision Song Contest representative Anja Nissen is back with a brand new single! Released last Friday, “Can’t Do This” sees Anja lend her glorious vocals over a light tropical-pop beat.

“Can’t Do This” was written by Anja alongside Ludvig Brygmann and produced by Brygmann. Mastering of the track was undertaken by Jakob Groth. The New South Wales-born star’s new single is the follow-up to “If We Only Had Tonight” released back in July. These two singles have marked Anja’s return to music as an independent artist.

From The Voice to Eurovision

Anja rose to fame as the winner of The Voice Australia in 2014, releasing her self-titled debut album with Universal Music Australia as a result of her success on the show. After a series of singles, including the Australian top 50 hit “I’m So Excited” featuring her The Voice mentor will.i.am and Cody Wise, Anja made a return to Denmark, the birthplace of her parents.

After finishing runner-up in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2016 with “Never Alone”, Nissen returned to the competition a year later with the self-penned ballad “Where I Am”. She won the competition in a landslide with 64% of the three-way vote in the final and earned the Danish ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv.

Taking Denmark back to the Eurovision final

As well as releasing an accompanying EP, also titled “Where I Am”, for the first time since the nation hosted Eurovision in 2014, Anja took Denmark to the Eurovision final where she finished in 20th place. She fared particularly well with the professional juries, ranking 13th with their votes alone.
