Rehearsal review

Rehearsing right now inside the Rotterdam Ahoy is Elena Tsagrinou, performing “El Diablo” for Cyprus. We will continue to update this article as each run through takes place, so make sure to keep refreshing for the most up-to-date review!

Elena begins her performance by lying on the red-coloured LED floor. She is dressed is a silver dress with tassels. As the song begins, Elena stands and interacts immediately with an on-stage camera in which she is the joined by her four dancers dressed in red catsuits. The five performers engage in high energy choreography very quickly and we see a large mirror that duplicates what is going on on stage to the backdrop which is very effective.

As we move into the chorus, the backdrop features a black and white colour scheme whilst Elena and her dancers are under red lights. In the verses there are lots of quick camera cuts to match the frantic beat of the song, and during the second verse Elena engages in some remarkable acrobatic poses that don’t effect her exceptional vocals at all.

In the middle 8, we see the mirror is covered in the words “El diablo” before the mirror raises up in the final chorus to reveal a big “El diablo” sign in the background. In the final run through, we see pyro flames appear behind the giant “El diablo” sign, which is fantastic.
