Eleni Foureira: “I’m honoured to be called the Mediterranean Beyoncé!”

Since her performance at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, Eleni Foureira has hit the top 10 in Spain with Fuego. In a recent interview with Spanish radio station Los 40, Eleni talked about her Eurovision experience, who she would like to collaborate with in the future and why she is honoured to have been called the “Mediterranean Beyoncé”!

“It’s like I’ve won Eurovision!”

Eleni secured Cyprus their best ever Eurovision finish in almost forty years of participation. While Fuego was favourite to win the contest going into the night of the grand final, Cyprus finished in second place behind Israel’s Netta. Nevertheless, Eleni has always maintained her delight at the result. In her Spanish radio interview, Eleni explains:

The second place at Eurovision was like winning because everything that is happening to me now is very big!

Adding more tour dates to her diary

Eleni is certainly making the most of her popularity across Europe, with a concert in London later this month. Then she’ll be heading back to Spain for Madrid Gay Pride on July 6th. Later in July, further shows will take place in Barcelona and in the party capital of Ibiza!
Already, since her Eurovision success, Eleni has been rewarded by the Cypriot President and support from international record label Sony to promote Fuego worldwide.

The “Mediterranean Beyoncé”

The Greek star also remarked on her newfound nickname “the Mediterranean Beyoncé”:

It is an honour when I am called the “Mediterranean Beyoncé”! Of course she’s one of my inspirations, alongside Michael Jackson and Tina Turner.

A reunion with J Balvin?

Furthermore, Eleni reiterated her intention to bring out new music not just in English and Greek, but in Spanish too! In addition, she reminisced about her collaboration with Colombian star J Balvin and hopes to have the opportunity to collaborate with the Latin American star once again.

En un chico malo, no no no!

And on Aitana & Ana Guerra’s #1 Spanish chart smash Lo Malo? Eleni is a big fan of the track and would love to have seen it on the Eurovision stage. You can listen to Eleni’s full interview with Los 40 by clicking here!
