Rehearsing right now inside the Expo Tel Aviv is Kobi Marimi, performing “Home” for Israel. We will continue to update this article as each run through takes place, so make sure to keep refreshing for the most up-to-date review!
During the first run through we had no visuals on the press centre screen, but, as expected, the vocal is flawless from Kobi. As are the backing vocalists with tight harmonies.
The staging shows large shards coming out of the ground and seemingly being used as screens to show different pre-recorded shots of Kobi singing. These are repeated behind him on the large background screen. It’s all very dark – Kobi and the backing singers that join him are dressed mostly in black.
As the songs opens up, Kobi walks out onto the satellite stage at the front and the background changes to a patterned fill of black and white lines. But the talking point here is the golden pyro curtain that falls towards the end and leads the Israeli to a strong and emotional finish.
Stay tuned for our reviews for the rest of today’s rehearsals here at the Expo Tel Aviv. If you want to know what to expect for the rest of the day, check out our rehearsal schedule.
