Rehearsing right now inside the Expo Tel Aviv is Ester Peony, performing “On a Sunday” for Romania. We will continue to update this article as each run through takes place, so make sure to keep refreshing for the most up-to-date review!
Firstly, remind yourselves what happened in the first rehearsal:
And now here is what we’ve noticed in today’s second rehearsal:
After trying various stage set-ups with Ester, her dancers, her guitarist and her backing singers, it seems that Romania have settled on having the backing singers on the left “bridge” element of the stage, the guitarist on the other “bridge” with two dancers interacting with Ester in the centre.
On a Sunday’s production completely contrasts with Latvia and Denmark preceding and following Romania respectively which should play into their hands. The edited camera angles fit the beats of the music and the overall performance really lifts On a Sunday to its highest potential.
For the final run through we see a lot of added pyrotechnics, lots of fire and flames. In the final chorus, we even get a golden rain pyro effect, a rare species in this year’s contest. Also one of the male dancers are removed for this run through.
Here is a reminder of the first rehearsal:
