Rehearsing right now inside the Expo Tel Aviv is Duncan Laurence, performing “Arcade” for The Netherlands. We will continue to update this article as each run through takes place, so make sure to keep refreshing for the most up-to-date review!

Firstly, remind yourselves what happened in the first rehearsal:

And now here is what we’ve noticed in today’s second rehearsal:

So we’ve had a bit of a overhaul for The Netherlands. In terms of props, the suspended orb hasn’t been replaced by a light sphere placed on his piano. Interestingly, we don’t have a close-up camera shot of Duncan until around 40 seconds in, a risky choice for a ballad that depends on emotional connection.

The LED backdrop is a beautiful smoky blue that complements Duncan and his piano well. Nevertheless, only once or twice throughout the performance does Duncan look down the camera lens.

His vocals are perfection and for this second run through, the light sphere has been removed from the top of his piano which is less distracting for viewers. The third run through is much improved for the last minute in which Duncan’s face is lit by the re-placed light sphere and he bangs the piano as he is overcome with emotion.

As soon as the official Eurovision YouTube channel uploads a video of today’s second rehearsal, we shall embed it right here for you to watch!

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
