ESCXTRA: Live from Tel AvivTel Aviv 2019

Jurij: “I dream of a top ten finish” [Interview]

We offered this year's Lithuanian entry a deck chair, a bit of sun, and some questions from our livestream audience

We made the most of the beautiful sunshine in Tel Aviv and caught up with Lithuania’s 2019 entry, Jurij Veklenko.

When asked about his own personal expectations, Jurij said, “I would be really happy, like really really happy, if I reached the top ten… to make it to the final and reach the top ten. That would be an achievement in my book.”

Jurij also talked to us about feeling no pressure with everyone watching the first rehearsals, and revealed some pre-show rituals.

As a writer with the Eurovision disposition it was only inevitable that I should find myself merging these two interests. If it wasn't Sonia singing "Better the Devil You Know" that got me hooked on Eurovision, then it was the Gina G banger "Just a Little Bit". The 90's is where it all started for me, who knows where I'll end up!
