Tel Aviv 2019

WATCH: The Eurovision 2019 televoting reveal using the 2016-2018 format

Would last night have been as nail-biting without the change to the televote reveal?

A change to the voting this year saw the televoting points revealed in reverse order of the jury results, rather than in reverse order of the televoting results as had been the case since 2016.

Over on Twitter, the very talented @euro_hater has recreated last night’s televote reveal to match what it would’ve looked like before this year’s change. Take a look!

A change for the better?

With the significant gap between Norway and The Netherlands, you would arguably have known the winner once Italy’s 3rd place finish had been revealed. Nevertheless, last night we waited until the final second to discover whether Sweden had scored enough points to overhaul The Netherlands.

Was it a lucky strike or a well calculated change? Let us know your thoughts @ESCXTRA!

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
