Eurovision 2020

Andorra will not participate at Eurovision 2020

We won't be seeing Andorra in The Netherlands next year

National broadcaster, RTVA, has stated that there are no plans to return to Eurovision in The Netherlands next year.

In response to a fan’s tweet, RTVA stated that “for the time being there are no plans to return“. Even when questioned about any possible way forward, RTVA apolgised and said they have no proposal to participate.

It has now become an annual event in which fans seek to find out if non-participating countries are considering a return to Eurovsion. It was the same story last year and some further context back in 2017 tells us that it may take government support before we see the microstate back on Europe’s biggest stage.

Andorra is the only participating country to have never competed in the Grand Final at the Eurovision Song Contest. The country last entered in 2009 with Susanne Georgi singing “La teva decisió” (Get a Life). It came 15th in the Semi Final with 8 points.

As a writer with the Eurovision disposition it was only inevitable that I should find myself merging these two interests. If it wasn't Sonia singing "Better the Devil You Know" that got me hooked on Eurovision, then it was the Gina G banger "Just a Little Bit". The 90's is where it all started for me, who knows where I'll end up!
