The Scoop🇸🇲 San Marino

Achille Lauro forced to skip Eurovision in Concert due to coronavirus cases among team

No performances before Turin

After first pulling out from Barcelona Eurovision Party due to cases of coronavirus among team, San Marino’s Achille Lauro is forced to skip Eurovision in Concert as well.

Out of respect for the organizers of the Barcelona Eurovision Party and for reasons of prudence with respect to the increase in coronavirus cases, having already had problems of contagion within the team and the band, we will not participate in the event in Amsterdam.

Achille Lauro

Achille Lauro was set to perform as part of the Barcelona Eurovision Party on Saturday evening. He says that while checking in for the trip to Barcelona, he was informed that there were cases of coronavirus in the staff and in the band. He says that he can’t perform without the band, because he will not use playback and because the band is essential for the performance.

After taking part in Italy’s Sanremo Music Festival with “Domenica”, Achille Lauro took part in San Marino’s national selection Una voce per San Marino. Achille Lauro got the ticket to the final as one of the ten established artists without having to compete in the semi-finals of the contest. Finally on 19th of February, Achille Lauro was chosen to represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “Stripper”.

23 Eurovision 2022 artists have been confirmed to perform at Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam’s AFAS Live on April 9th. Most recently France’s Alvan & Ahez were confirmed for the line-up. The tickets are still available and can be found here.
