The deadline for broadcasters to confirm provisional participation in the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest is slowly approaching. Based on previous years, the deadline is expected to take place in September. RTVSLO has confirmed to ESCXTRA.com that details on Slovenia’s participation will be announced in “due time”.
Waiting on the EBU
With Slovenia and RTVSLO so far silent in regards to any plans to take part in The Netherlands next year, ESCXTRA.com reached out to the Slovene broadcaster for an update on their plans:
The EBU has not yet published the rules and application deadline for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The decision of RTV Slovenija’s participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 and further details will be announced in due time.

We thank RTVSLO for the swift reply to our queries.
Slovene success in Eurovision
Earlier this year, Slovenia scored their best placing in Eurovision since 2015. Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl placed 15th in the grand final with the hypnotic “Sebi”. Furthermore, the duo earned their nation their fourth qualification in the past six years – Slovenia’s most successful run since the introduction of the semi-finals.
