The Netherlands 2020

Switzerland confirms participation and reveals submissions process for Eurovision 2020

The Swiss Song and Act to be announced in due course

After a successful participation at this year’s competition, Switzerland has confirmed that it will be participating in next year’s competition. In addition to confirming its participation, SRF also confirmed how Switzerland is intending to select its entry for 2020.

Internal Selection to take place once again

In 2018, it was confirmed that the Swiss entry, would be selected internally for Tel Aviv. Due to the success they had in Tel Aviv, it looks like Switzerland is keen to repeat the success they had this year in The Netherlands next year.

An Audience Panel and an International Jury expert will once again be used in order to select the Swiss Entry. The Audience Panel was a success in last year’s selection, with 6,100 applications being made to be a part of the panel, whilst the International Jury expert included Eurovision artists such as Ruth Lorenzo Pascual, Tinkara Kovac, and Ovi.

The International Jury Expert will count towards 50% of the selection, whilst the Audience Panel will count towards the other 50% in order to select the Swiss act.

Submissions to begin in September

Songwriters, Producers, Artists, and Lyricists are able to submit their entries from September 2, until September 16 at Noon. More information about the rules and criteria can be found by clicking here.

As with last year, SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR will announce the successful act and their entry for The Netherlands at a later date.

Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019

In 2019, Switzerland internally selected Luca Hänni to represent them in Tel Aviv with his song ‘She Got Me‘. The song was co-written by Luca himself along with Laurell Barker, Frazer Mac, Jon Hällgren and Lukas Hällgren.

Switzerland participated at the Second-Semi-Final and Luca managed to qualify for the Grand Final, giving Switzerland it’s first Final appearance since 2014. Luca managed to finish fourth overall with 364 Points.
