On the 22nd July, the Semi-Finals and Grand Final of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest will be available to watch on Netflix in the United States. The 2020 Eurovision Song Contest will also be available on-demand across the pond after the competition takes place next year.

The acquisition of the rights for this year’s contest is not the only thing that Netflix has been working on. Netflix is also working on a film that is based on the contest, which is due to be released in 2020. Filming also took place during this year’s contest with the participation of the audience that were in Expo Tel Aviv.
Jon Ola San has commented on Netflix’s acquisition of this year’s and next year’s contest.
“The European Broadcasting Union is thrilled that the world’s biggest entertainment show will now be available on-demand for viewers in the USA, one of the biggest TV markets, U.S viewers will now get to enjoy all three of this year’s fantastic shows for the first time as well as the entire Contest in 2020. This is perfect timing with plans to launch a US version of the Contest in 2021.”
