Last month, girl group Hurricane were crowned champions of Beovizija 2020 with a landslide victory. “Hasta La Vista” earned maximum points from both the professional jury and the public televote. Ahead of their eventual win, the trio already went ahead and revamped their entry, releasing a music video for the track. Now, as the song and the performance is tweaked ahead of the contest, the language(s) of the song will remain unchanged.
Following their win, and news that the song and performance would continue to undergo changes ahead, Hurricane have confirmed the song will not be translated for Eurovision.
We consulted with our team. They say it is still better to sing in Serbian. So, here it will be in Serbian.

I think the point is that everyone is presented in their mother tongue at Eurovision. We always have some mix in the songs, a little Serbian, a little English, a little Spanish, like, “hasta la vista, babe”.

It’s worth noting that all of Serbia’s entries since 2017 have been sung in Serbian at the contest. These three entries have also all been selected via Beovizija, rather than internally.
About Hurricane
Hurricane are a Serbian girl band that was formed by Zoran Milinković in 2017. The trio consists of Ivana Nikolić, Ksenija Knežević and Sanja Vučić. Ksenija has previously appeared on the Eurovision stage as a backing vocalist for her father, Knez. Knez represented Montenegro in Vienna and placed 13th in the final.
Eurovision fans will also know Sanja Vučić, who represented Serbia in the 2016 contest with the song “Goodbye (Shelter)“. The song finished 18th in the grand final.
The group have become one of the biggest emerging pop acts in Serbia over the past couple of years. The music video for their song “Favorito” has reached over 45 million views on YouTube in just five months.
Back in December, we reported that they were among the rumoured artists to be taking place in Beovizija 2020, which proved to be true. Last month, they won the selection with almost 20,000 votes in a landslide victory.
Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest
Serbia debuted as an independent nation at 2007 with “Molitva” by Marija Šerifović which won the competition. In 2008, Serbia had the honor of hosting the competition in Belgrade.
Since their debut, Serbia has participated eleven times. Out of their eleven participations, they have managed to make the final eight times. Despite narrowly missing out on a place in the final in 2017, the Balkan nation has qualified for the past two contests.
In 2019, Serbia selected Nevena Božović to represent Serbia in Tel Aviv, with her song ‘Kruna‘. This was Nevena’s third participation at a Eurovision event. She has previously participated in Junior Eurovision in 2007 and in Eurovision in 2013 with Moje 3. Overall, she managed to finish 18th, receiving 35 Points from the Jury Vote and 54 Points from the Public Vote.
