🇸🇪 First pictures of the Melodifestivalen 2021 stage revealed

Exciting new elements

SVT has today released first pictures of the Melodifestivalen 2021 stage. As there won’t be any audience in this year’s contest, the stage designer got more freedom in the design.

Longer than usually

The 2021 stage is longer than usually and for the first time will have a reflective ceiling. This wouldn’t have been possible if there was audience attending the shows. The stage is 20 meters deep which will give it a feeling of a catwalk. Far back on the stage are three LED walls.

That we lack an audience is a big difference that we had to take into account. But it also offers some new opportunities.

A new feature for this year is a small extra stage that has been added on the studio floor in the arena. It is mostly a place for the presenters but also a background for the occasions when tables are set up for the artists at for example when counting the votes.

The first semifinal of Melodifestivalen 2021 will take place on February 6. The running order for the semifinals was released last week. Due the COVID-19 pandemic, all shows will be held in Stockholm without any live audience. Ever since 2002, Melodifestivalen has toured all over Sweden with only final taking place in Stockholm.
