She won the 2015 edition of Junior Eurovision, she competed in Britain’s Got Talent and was Michela’s backing vocalist in Tel Aviv. Is she now headed for the front spot?
Winner already determined?
Maltese news site Lovin Malta shared a couple of pictures where you can’t miss the presence of the talented Maltese singer with mesmerizing vocals. The pictures are from the recent filming of the X Factor boot camp.
Thus, they are confident this means that she is taking part in the second edition of the show. Therefore, she could be representing the Mediterranean island in The Netherlands. Talking about victory, Lovin Malta seem confident she will be the one to beat.
From JESC to BGT to backing vocals to Eurovision?
Born in 2002, Destiny triumphed at Junior Eurovision 2015 with her song “Not my soul”. In 2017, she then competed in Britain’s Got Talent where she sang a cover of Aretha Franklin’s “Think”. Delivering flawlessly and impressing Simon Cowell, she proceeded to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, despite another impeccable show she was eliminated. Last May, she supported Michela offstage singing backing vocals for Camaleon. That led many to wonder whether she will be on the front soon. Throughout these years, she has been actively singing in Malta.
X Factor Malta
Back in June, it was confirmed that X Factor Malta would return for another year. Once again the judging panel will include twice Eurovision alumn Ira Losco, music manager Keith Debono, rocker Ray Mercieca and singer-songwriter Alexandra Alden. The winner will most likely also get the honour of representing Malta at Eurovision.
Malta at Eurovision
Since their debut in 1971, Malta participated 32 times at the contest, appearing at 25 finals. After a weak start and a 16-year withdrawal, Malta returned in 1991 and only missed a top 10 finish once in the 90s. Although a victory is not yet in the bag, Malta came second twice, in 2002 and 2005, and third also twice, in 1992 and 1998. Since the introduction of semifinals Malta failed to qualify in seven attempts and have failed to reach the top 10 since 2013. Can Destiny change that should she win?
