Eldar Qasimov – ‘Rising Up’
Back in 2011 as part of Ell and Nikki, Eldar rose up and claimed victory for Azerbaijan with ‘Running Scared’. Bringing together the familiar unison of Baku and Stockholm, the co-written track ‘Rising Up’ sees Eldar explore Scandipop banger beats and let loose with some slick choreography with the NERO Dance Crew. Although it’s an infectious bop, at its core is a song about the feeling of being constantly let down in life and love. But also how there’s an inner strength in reclaiming your identity and moving on. “You’re no longer the fire of my object of desire.” It’s not the typical heartbreak anthem, but a song of the motto ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’. The music video was filmed over two days with the dance crew in Baku. Check it out below:
