Dotter – ‘I Do’

Emerging Swedish singer-songwriter first came to wider attention in her Melodifestivalen debut in 2018. That year she took part with the intricate ballad ‘Cry‘. Unfortunately Dotter missed out on making the second round of voting by under 60,000 votes. Thereby finishing in 6th place in the Malmö heat. However this was not Dotter’s first foray into the Melodifestivalen machine. In 2017 was participating as a songwriter. She co-wrote Mariette’s electronic pop anthem ‘A Million Years‘ that would finish fourth in the final. Since then she has burned through the 2018 Summer with a ‘Heatwave’ and has continued her work with Sweden’s best. Earlier this year Dotter teamed up 2015 Eurovision winner Måns Zelmerlöw and performed their duet ‘Walk With Me‘ during this year’s Andra Chansen.

Now Dotter is back with new single and new video ‘I Do’. It’s immediately striking with its dark electronic organ piano chorus. This is enhanced by Dotter’s distinctive tone. ‘I Do’ is a proposal of love and its inferences to the chapel and marriage play nicely with the themes of the instrumentation. We are definitely saying ‘I Do’ to this experimental track that works perfectly for Dotter’s vibe. Although unless your washing machine is broken, we don’t advise swimming fully clothed.

My first Eurovision memory was watching 1994 as a hatchling. I've been tapping my talons to the bops and bangers from Europe and beyond ever since! I finally spread my wings to attending the contest in Lisbon 2018 and am now a regular at many events and national finals - especially my regular nest at Eesti Laul.
