Junior Eurovision: Albania accepting submissions for Junior Fest 2018

Albania’s broadcaster (RTSH) officially opened the submission window to submit potential entries for Minsk. 

Third edition of Junior Fest

For the third year in a row, Albania will use Junior Fest to select their entrant for Junior Eurovision. Artists and songwriters potentially interested in participating have until Monday the 3rd of September to apply. Furthermore, they must also respect the following rules: 

  • Submissions have to be made via CD or mp3
  • Candidates must submit music, lyrics, songwriters’ records and singers’ pictures
  • The participants’ date of birth must be between 1 December 2004 and 20 November 2009.
  • The song must have been produced after the 2017 edition of Junior Eurovision
  • Songs must be original 

Currently, RTSH has not yet announced the date of Junior Fest. However, considering the selection took place in mid-October last year, it is possible it will take place around then.

Albania in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 

Albania made its Junior Eurovision debut in Amsterdam in 2012 with Igzidora Gjeta and her song “Kam një këngë vetëm për ju“. So far, Albania made 4 appearances at the contest. Currently, their best result is Mishela Rapo’s 5th place in 2015 with her entry “Dambaje“. In 2017, 10-year-old Ana Kondra represented Albania in Tbilisi with her song “Don’t Touch My Tree“. Eventually, she ended in 13th place with 67 points. 

Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018

Belarus’s capital Minsk will be the host of the 2018 edition of Junior Eurovision. This is the second time the event takes place in the city, that previously hosted it in 2010. A record-breaking 20 countries will participate in Minsk on November 25. Wales and Kazakhstan will both make a debut with Kazakhstan participating for the first time to any Eurovision related event. Furthermore,  the contest will also feature three returning countries: France, that last participated in 2004, Azerbaijan that last participated in 2013 and Israel that last participated in 2016. Unfortunately,  Cyprus instead confirmed its withdrawal from the competition.
