The radio station that is owned by the German broadcaster responsible for the German participation in the Eurovision Song Contest ARD, NDR2 is holding a music festival. Of course, as you would expect Eurovision names are involved.
A Champion crowns the event off!
Of course a music event laid on by ARD, in Germany can only mean one thing. Lena Meyer-Landrut! Lena shot to stardom in 2010 in Oslo, Norway where she represented Germany with the song Satellite. With 246 points, she became the second German winner after Nicole and also she became the first and so far only Big 5 winner. Before the Big 5 rule was implemented however, she is the first winner from a Big 5 nation since Katrina and the Waves for the United Kingdom in 1997.
Lena came back to defend her title a year later when the contest went to Dusseldorf, with the song “Taken By A Stranger”. She didn’t match her Oslo achievements but she did manage another top 10 placement, coming in Tenth-Place with 107 points. Since then she has become one of Germany’s successful artists releasing acclaimed singles and albums.
Any room for another Top 5?
Well yes there is! As alongside Lena will be Michael Schulte who represented Germany in Lisbon, Portugal with the song “Let Me Walk Alone”. With 340 points he finished in Fourth-Place. He, like Lena also had a successful music career as an indie artist.
As well as Lena and Michael, Nico Santos who is another successful singer songwriter will join the party alongside Lily Among Clouds, who participated on Unser Leid Fur Israel. Nico was with Michael in the German Jury for the Eurovision Song Contest this year. German rising star Mille will attend who has recently released a song “All Good” with Malou Prytz (MelFest 2019 finalist). He was also the backing singer and dancer for Serhat’s “Say Na Na Na” for San Marino in Israel.
