Duncan Laurence has confirmed that his second single is forthcoming in a long Instagram post. The Eurovision Song Contest 2019 winner opened up about the “crazy rollercoaster” few months since his victory.
“I had to pinch myself so hard”
The Dutch victor expressed his disbelief at winning the Eurovision trophy in a wide-ranging personal post on his Instagram account, detailling that “there have been moments that I had to pinch myself so hard to convince myself I wasn’t dreaming.”
He continued: “Holding that glass trophy, singing to almost 200 million people, performing on big festivals, touring through Europe, doing what I love most: making music.”
But in addition to the euphoria he has been feeling recently, Duncan Laurence also opened up about the insecurities and negativities that he has battled through to get to this point. Laurence said, “I feel so lucky to have this chance in life. There have been heartbreaks as well. Moments of insecurity. Moments where in I felt pressure. But somehow I just feel that all of it is and will be worth it.”
Calling himself the “small town boy”, the archetypal lyric from his winning entry “Arcade”, Duncan rounded off by confirming that his second single is imminent.
From that small town boy to who I’ve become now, I’ve learned above all that hard work and patience will always pay off. Thanks for believing in me, guys. I know it’s not possible, but I wish I could hug you all in person… so let’s just hug virtually for now instead. This is just the start, because single #2 is on its way and I can’t wait to share it.
