Dutch YouTuber NikkieTutorials wants to host the Eurovision 2020 greenroom

Just Google “Dutch YouTuber”. One of the names you’ll see popping up all over the internet, as one of the most popular and well-known YouTubers is Nikkie de Jager – the owner of the channel NikkieTutorials. Nikkie’s channel focuses on makeup, but she’s not just one of those plain “makeup tutorial” channels; her most recent videos include “Testing waterproof makeup underwater” (in which she scuba dives with a full face of makeup) and “I transformed into a Wii character” (in which she uses makeup to transform into her “Mii” on her Nintendo Switch)! It turns out, she’s also a huge Eurovision fan and has expressed interest in hosting the green room at next year’s Eurovision in Rotterdam!

Who is NikkieTutorials?

As mentioned above, Nikkie de Jager is the owner of one of the most popular Dutch beauty YouTube channels, with a huge international following of 12.2m subscribers. Her energetic and bubbly personality has attracted several major celebrities, including Drew Barrymore and Kim Kardashian, to appear on her channel! Her unique style of videos can interest even those who couldn’t care less about makeup.

More recently, she announced her own YouTube series: Nikkie To The Rescue! In the series, the 25-year old YouTuber answers calls from people who have beauty problems and want to be saved, such as a boy who wants to go to prom with a full glam makeup look, or a girl who wants to feel more secure. The first episode of the series will debut later today!

Greenroom 2020 host?

In an interview with nu.nl, Nikkie was asked if she ever saw herself going on to “normal” television. Her response (translated from Dutch below) shows that there’s only one thing she would go on TV for:

I actually have just one target, and that is to do something for the Eurovision Song Contest. It’d be fantastic tofrolic around the greenroom, whilst Jan Smit and Eva Jinek are up on the main stage – because I think that they’re going to be the main presenters. I’d find it to be an honour to be in their presence.

Nikkie is a huge Eurovision fan, and has previously even done Instagram Live interviews with Eurovision finalists – in 2018 she did one with that year’s runner-up, Eleni Foureira from Cyprus!

I've watched Eurovision for as long as I can remember, but my interest really built in 2008, after I decided to watch the semifinals online, out of boredom, before the final...I was blown away by the quality of the show and have been hooked ever since! I'm a competitive trampolinist and I love baking. I've also just completed a master's degree in Research Methods in Psychology at University College London.
