Earlier today, Spanish broadcaster RTVE has confirmed that it will be selecting the Spanish representative for Rotterdam through an internal selection.
First internal selection since 2015
With this announcement, this will be the first time that Spain will be selecting its Eurovision representative internally since 2015. For the past decade, Spain has only selected their Eurovision entrants three times:
- 2012 (Artist – Internal, Song – National Final) – Pastora Soler – Quedate Conmigo – placed 10th with 97 Points
- 2013 (Artist – Internal, Song – National Final) – El Sueño de Morfeo – Contigo hasta el final – placed 25th with 8 Points
- 2015 (Artist – Internal, Song – Internal) – Edurne – Amanecer – placed 21st with 15 Points
RTVE is yet to confirm if the song that will represent Spain in Rotterdam will also be selected internally or through a national final.
