🇲🇹 Malta confirm Junior Eurovision 2021 participation

Their entry will be selected on October 9

Maltese broadcaster PBS has confirmed that they will be participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2021. The confirmation comes as they launch their search for submissions for their national final.

Malta launches the search for their entry

Last week, PBS confirmed that MJESC will be used to select the Maltese entry for Junior Eurovision 2021. The Maltese representative will be selected on October 9, in a format that uses a combination of jury and televote.

The rules of the selection are as follows:

  • All artists must be Maltese nationals
  • Songs may not have been commercially or publicly performed by the 1st of May 2021
  • Songs must last between 2 minutes 30 seconds and 3 minutes long
  • Lyrics may be written and performed in English or Maltese

The window for submissions closes on September 5. The 12 finalists will be revealed on September 19, with online voting opening at the start of October.

Junior Eurovision 2021 so far

Only days after Valentina’s win, the EBU were quick to confirm that we will be travelling to France for the 18th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The contest will take place on December 19th at La Seine Musicale. The slogan of the contest will be Imagine.

At this point, thirteen countries have confirmed to participate in the JESC edition of 2021.

  • Netherlands
  • North Macedonia
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Russia
  • Serbia
  • Spain
  • Ukraine
