28-year-old Marius Bear won the Swiss Music Award for Best Talent in 2019. He also released his debut album Not Loud Enough the same year. In 2020, he released the cover of Whitney Houston‘s classic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” after performing it on the TV show I Can See Your Voice. The cover currently has over 3.5 million streams on Spotify. The cover is included on the new album Boys Do Cry.

Marius Bear was selected to represent Switzerland with the help of two juries: a panel of 100 people made up of Swiss viewers and an international Eurovision Expert jury, and his entry “Boys Do Cry” premiered on March 8th. Earlier this month Marius revealed that Sacha Jean-Baptiste will be the creative director for his performance in Turin.

Marius Bear will compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 on May 10th. He will perform on the first half of the show. Last year Gjon’s Tears gave Switzerland their best result in the contest since 1993 as “Tout l’univers” won the second semi-final and ultimately placed third in the Grand Final, winning the jury vote and scoring 432 points.
