Anna Kearney to represent Ireland at Gliwice-Silesia

Ireland's fifth Junior Eurovision entrant has been revealed

The Grand Final of Junior Eurovision Éire 2019 has just taken place, and it has been announced that Anna Kearney will be flying the Irish flag for Gliwice-Silesia in November. She will be singing the song ‘Banshee’.

What happened in tonight’s show?

The following finalists fought for the right to represent Ireland at Gliwice-Silesia:

  • Anna Kearney
  • Orla McDermott
  • Savannah Phoenix-Munro

The three participants sang two songs in the first stage of tonight’s show. one, which they have already sung in the earlier stages of the competition. Whilst the other, was an Irish entry that won Eurovision.

After the first round round, Orla was eliminated, whilst Anna and Savannah fought at the final sing-off, with Anna emerging as the winner.

Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019

This year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held in the Gliwice Arena, Poland, on the 24th November 2019. Excitingly, it marks the first time Poland will host a music-based Eurovision event! Last year, Roksana Węgiel brought Poland its first Eurovision-adjacent win with “Anyone I Want To Be”. Roksana has since been announced to be hosting the contest, along with Ida Nowakowska and Aleksander Sikora.

Ireland at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018

In 2018, Ireland selected Taylor Hynes to represent them in Minsk, with the song IOU. During his participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Taylor managed to finish 15th receiving 12 points from the juries and 36 points from the online vote.
