We have almost all of them! The Maltese entry for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 was released on 12 October. Eliana Gomez Blanco sings ‘We Are More’ on stage in Gliwice-Silesia. The small island has been doing extremely well at the kids contest since their return, so the bar is set high!
How did Malta select Eliana?
We take you back to August. Then, a national final took place in which Eliana competed against 11 other candidates. This year, the acts each performed either an original song or a cover of a famous song to fight for the right to represent Malta at the contest. The winner got determined by a professional jury combined with televoting. So we already knew for a while that Eliana would represent Malta, and now her song was released.

With ‘We Are More’, Eliana wants to make clear to all young people that you should stand for what you believe and you should not let you tear down by anyone. For the third time in Junior Eurovision history, Malta uses a piece of Maltese in the song. The two previous times we heard Maltese were in 2010 and 2017.
Malta in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Malta has been taking part in the children’s song competition since the very beginning. Gliwice-Silesia 2019 marks their 15th edition. The small island started the festival fairly mediocre. Never really achieved top results, so after 2010 they withdrew for two years. They came back in 2013 and what a return it was! Gaia Gauchi gave the first victory to Malta. Two years later Malta won again, then with Destiny and ‘Not My Soul’. Since Malta’s return, they have never finished outside the top 10. Do you think Eliana will continue this success?
