Gliwice-Silesia 2019

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Wales revamp “Calon yn Curo” by Erin Mai for Gliwice-Silesia

Two entries, two revamps: Wales at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest!

It hasn’t been long since Erin Mai won the Welsh national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Her entry “Calon yn Curo” has now been tweaked ahead of the upcoming competition in Gliwice-Silesia.

An updated instrumental for the second year running

Whilst Wales is still rather new to the whole Junior Eurovision scene, they are becoming experts at updating their entries after their national selection has finished. Last year, we saw an update to Manw’s entry “Perta” with some increased emphasis on the instruments in her track. This year, we see something very similar for Erin Mai and “Calon yn Curo”. The official music video has also been released with the revamp.

Translating to “Heart Beating”, this year’s entry “Calon yn Curo” has been co-written by two artists who have already performed at Eurovision itself – Sylvia Strand and John Gregory. The pair were part of The Islanders band which accompanied Jon Lilygreen on stage at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 for Cyprus. The lyrics are written by Ed Holden.

No stranger to televised competition shows, Lilygreen also competed on The X Factor UK in 2017. He made it all the way to the Six Chair Challenge as part of Nicole Scherzinger’s category. Not the only former Eurovision representative in the show two years ago, he competed alongside Slavko KaleziΔ‡ who represented Montenegro earlier that May.

What do you think of the adjustments that Wales have made to their entry for Gliwice-Silesia? Will they improve upon their result at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest last year? Are you supporting Erin Mai? Let us know in the comments below and on social media @ESCXTRA.
