🇮🇹 ‘Soldi’ now the most streamed Eurovision song on Spotify

It has been five months since the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 took place. Since May, ‘Soldi’ has charted all over Europe, and it has even topped the charts in Italy, Israel, Greece and Lithuania.

A few months later, Mahmood has managed to obtain a new feat.’Soldi’ is now the most streamed Eurovision song of all on time on the streaming platform ‘Spotify’.

‘Soldi’ takes over ‘Euphoria’

At the time of writing Soldi has accumulated 123,635,798 streams on Spotify, whilst Euphoria currently has 122,423,300 streams. Mahmood has managed to obtain this feat in eight months, whilst Loreen accumulated her streams since her participation in Melodifestivalen.

Mahmood since the Eurovision Song Contest

Since participating in the competition earlier this year, Mahmood has been busy on the road promoting his material. He has since announced his ‘Europa Good Vibes’ tour which is making multiple stops all over Europe. But before he does, he will be performing at the European Parliament. In addition to that, he has been nominated as Best Italian Act at this year’s MTV EMA Awards, and he has released his new single Barrio.

Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest

Italy was one of the seven countries that competed in the very first contest in 1956. So far, it participated at Eurovision 44 times, winning twice (in 1964 and 1990). The country regularly participated at Eurovision until 1997 when it withdrew for 14 years. Italy returned to the contest in 2011, represented by Raphael Gualazzi with “Madness of love” earning 2nd place.

Since returning, Italy has ranked in the top 10 in six out of eight occasions, including two top 3 finishes (in 2011 and 2015). In Lisbon the duo Ermal Meta and Fabrizio Moro represented Italy. Although they placed 17th with the jury, they came 3rd with the televote, coming 5th overall.

Mahmood brought the nation even closer to another win – securing a solid second place finish behind Duncan Laurence’s “Arcade”. Mahmood finished with 472 points to Duncan’s 498 points.

We would like to congratulate Mahmood in managing to obtain this achievement.

I started watching Eurovision ever since I moved to the UK in 2006, obsessed since 2012 and haven't looked back since.
