After yesterday’s exciting announcement that Bulgaria would return to Eurovision in 2020, BNT have today confirmed they will reveal their artist on 25th November. The press conference in Sofia will also reveal the production company behind the entry as well as the partnering music production company from the UK.
Will Bulgaria achieve four consecutive qualifications?
With two top 5 finishes in three years, Bulgaria have set an incredibly high bar for their return. After Poli Genova finished in 4th with “If Love Was a Crime” in 2016, and Kristian Kostov was 2nd with “Beautiful Mess” in 2017, super group EQUINOX also qualified to the grand final in 2018 finishing in 14th.
Withdrawal followed in 2019 due to financial reasons, leading to the sponsored return in 2020. With this return comes a new approach to the contest.
The new focus for Bulgarian participation at Eurovision will be the long-term commercial success of the artists representing the country in the contest. An additional priority will be the development of the creative industry in Bulgaria through the international partnerships made possible by the project.
Bulgaria view participation at Eurovision, the biggest music event in the world, to be used as a platform to showcase the positive image of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people.
