🇫🇮 Finland: UMK 2020 dates announced, search for songs opens

The final will take place in March

Finnish broadcaster Yle has announced the dates of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2020, Finland’s Eurovision selection for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam. The final of UMK 2020 will take place on March 7th.

Only one live show

UMK 2020 will include only one live show, the final on March 7th. The final will take place in Tampere. Tickets won’t be sold to the event. It’s possible that before the final some introduction episodes will be broadcasted.

The finalists will be revealed on January 21st. The jury, who selects the finalists, will be also revealed at the event. The presentation will be broadcasted live.

Search opens now

After selecting their artist internally for two years, Finland opens the selection again for everyone. The search if open for a week from November 1st to November 8th. If you want to send in your song, click here.

An artist can send in three songs to the competition, but only one of them can be selected to the final. Songwriters and producers can send in multiple songs. At least one of the songwriters and lead vocalist(s) have to have Finnish citizenship or permanent residence in Finland.
