New Music Friday this week with Loïc Nottet, Hatari, Eye Cue & more!

Another week comes to an end and that means it’s New Music Friday! So it’s time to share the best new releases from the Eurovision world this week. Over the following pages is everything you need to know for your weekend playlists! Loïc Nottet - 'Candy' Yesterday was the hallowed main event of spooky season. For his trick or treat, Belgium's 2015 representative Loïc Nottet surprised everyone with his treat, a short film and new EP 'Candy'. https://escxtra.com/2019/10/31/loic-nottet-releases-candy/ Hatari - 'Klámstrákur' Everyone's favourite Icelandic anti-capitalist techno group are back and continuing to make their mark in redefining stereotypes and gender roles. Always challenging perceptions to the extreme, 'Klámstrákur' sees Klemens become an actual 'filthy boy' showing off his impressive pole-dancing skills and physique. The song has a strong message, confronting the notion of toxic masculinity and the shame and fear of judgement that is created with the forced roles society tries to box men into. This is shown evidently in the music video with the contrasting dynamics of Klemens and Mattias playing to their character roles. With Mattias playing the angry, dominant male role, admonishing Klemens' character for being so open and free. For fans that want the complete visual and audio experience, Hatari continue their Europe Will Crumble Tour in the new year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRB0hU7qMZ4 Eye Cue - 'Tell me baby' Always a favourite here on New Music Friday, the North Macedonian duo are back for more. Since their successful recording session in London which bore the releases of 'Dancin'', 'Love Me Hate Me' and 'Too Late', Eye Cue have continued to explore new sounds. Last month they re-recorded a traditional native folk song 'Jano Mori', whilst still giving it the typical Eye Cue magic. Now they've switched it up again. 'Tell me baby' has the fresh guitar melodies we come to expect. But this takes a gentler acoustic telling a story of loss and heartbreak. It shows more depth and character to Marija's range as the song builds and she connects with the viewer in the simple, yet effective video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgq_Gi8yWe4 Westlife - 'My Blood' Following his 2016 Eurovision adventures, Ireland's Nicky Byrne has reunited with his Westlife bandmates. Over the past year the group have returned to the stage for their anniversary Twenty Tour and recorded new music. Their 11th studio album, Spectrum will be released in two weeks time. However that hasn't stopped the guys treating their legion of fans with new singles, teasing what's to come. 'My Blood' is the fourth single to be released from the upcoming album. The heartfelt ballad is inspired by the quartet being at the stage in their life where family and children are their motivation. It's a relatable message for anyone reaching that phase in life. As well as the worries of protecting a child from bullying and the struggles they can face growing up. Such is the importance of the song to the guys, that they've included their own children in the music video. The song is the mastermind of Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac with the music video filmed in Bray, County Wicklow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgiH0_h8p-U Adelén - 'Somewhere We Can Talk' Back in Melodi Grand Prix 2013 Norway's young star served up tropical banger 'Bombo', written by world famous songwriter Ina Wroldsen. After a short break from music Adelén has returned with a bang in 2019. With releases such as 'Beat' and 'What's Next?', the familiar elements are still recognisable, but with a mature sound. Next in this evolution is 'Somewhere We Can Talk'. While it's a fun bop taking us from Winter back to Summer, which we love Adelén for, it's a much more personal song. Through the latin fire breathes the heartfelt emotion of Adelén venting over a breakup in her most honest song yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tL2AT71lySM Iveta Mukuchyan - 'Im Anush Hayastan' Let's celebrate Armenia continuing their 'LoveWave' with Eurovision by watching this special treat. Always proud of her heritage, Iveta Mukuchyan delights us with her team of Armenian girls to honour the original 'Iliknerov Par' song by Xachatur Avetisyan with a modern twist. In this, which translates to 'My Sweet Armenia', Iveta has worked with Arthur Manukyan, who directed the entry for Artsvik, 'Fly With Me'. The uplifting folk bop is all things Armenia with culture and music at its heart to respect the homeland. Any song with a 35 second breakdown commands attention! Iveta and her designers made the outfits for each set piece in the music video shoot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS3_zN_dJnY Aly Ryan - 'Future Memories' From Unser Lied to Eurovision perhaps? Over the past few weeks, the 'Wear Your Love' singer has made it known her future memory wants to be singing in Europe's biggest party. This has seen her submit a batch of songs to San Marino and Switzerland for consideration. However for now, Aly is keeping our playlists busy with more new music. The slick urban-electro beats are typical of Aly's sound. Yet there's still a light-hearted whimsy to the cool Dua Lipa-esque vocals. Although it's not being sent to Eurovision, 'Future Memories' is radio ready. As Aly sings a story about the blossoming of the early stages of a relationship. Here's to Aly's relationship with Eurovision continuing that same path! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP5r2_8RHfQ ZOË - 'Amour Fou' Closing out New Music Friday this week is ZOË bringing a 'Crazy Love' to our round up. Austria's girl next door from Eurovision 2016 is all grown up in this sultry pop anthem. Co-written and produced with her father, Christof Straub, ZOË also continues her partnership with Global Rockstar. The company that allows fans to invest shares in their favourite artists to help release new music. This also helped support the San Marino entry in 2018, which ZOË oversaw as a songwriter and judge in the 1In360 format. ZOË's ethereal vocal dances along the guitar-fused electronic beat as she recalls a tale of an old love in both French and English.
