Ochman to represent Poland in Eurovision 2022 with “River”!

Tonight, Poland hosted their national final to find their Eurovision representative. In ‘Tu bije serce Europy! Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję’, ten artists competed for the opportunity to represent Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, hosted in Turin. After an exciting evening, the winner was selected: Ochman with “River”!

Format of the national final

After a few months of rumours and uncertainty, Poland revealed that they opted for a national final rather than an internal selection like they did in 2021. ‘Tu bije serce Europy! Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję’ was hosted by last year’s representative Rafał Brzozowski, together with Małgorzata Tomaszewska and Ida Nowakowska.

Ten acts were selected to compete in this national final, including one comeback artist: Lidia Kopania represented Poland in 2009 with “I Don’t Wanna Leave”. The results were determined by a combination of jury points and televote. There were also guest artists, consisting of Eurovision 2011 winners Ell & Nikki, Poland’s Eurovision representatives Justyna Steczkowska, Blue Café and Kasia Moś and Poland’s Junior Eurovision representatives Sara James and Viki Gabor.

Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021

In 2021, TVP opted to not re-select Alicja, originally selected for 2020, for Eurovision 2021. Instead, Rafał Brzozowski was internally-selected to represent Poland in Rotterdam with “The Ride”. He failed to qualify from the second semi-final. He placed 14th with 35 points, which was Poland’s third consecutive non-qualification.
